Nestled in the heart of the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District, The Whim boasts 15,000+ square feet of airy white walls, soaring timber ceilings, sprawling vintage brick, and a vibrant romance reminiscent of the roaring ’20s. Inspired by European art and industrial beauty, The Whim is the perfect space to create an experience.
THE PATIO
Complete with trees and cafe lights, the patio is ideal for lawn games, sparkler send offs, and is our favorite spot to catch the sunset during cocktail hour.
THE MAIN EVENT SPACE
Our 14-foot ceilings are the perfect height to curate a canopy of lighting, floral, and custom installations to create a one-of-a-kind event. Keep it simple or go elaborate. Either one will be show-stopping.
THE SUITES
We provide two on site getting ready suites designed for the ultimate luxury experience. Our upper suite features oversized mirrors, lounge seating, and a custom built in vanity. The upper suite also features three overhead skylights that give the space endless amounts of natural light - ideal for getting ready photos and hair and make-up.
GLASS MENAGERIE ROOM
Whether it be for cocktail hour, dessert displays, photo booth areas, additional getting ready space, or simply a quiet place to retreat, we offer our glass menagerie room, complete with custom built ins, to use as you wish.
THE SPEAKEASY
Our underground speakeasy is the perfect spot for late night libations. Customize as a 1920’s speakeasy or your favorite late night bar - either way your guests will LOVE this unexpected space during cocktail hour and throughout the evening. The speakeasy also doubles as a getting ready space (as needed) earlier in the day.
FRONT COCKTAIL SPACE
Upon entry at The Whim, you are welcomed into our front cocktail space. This space is ideal for bar service, welcome signs, guest book tables and seating charts. We are also able to drape this area off from the main event space for privacy during a room flip or to simply create separation or extra drama during your event as needed.
MEZZANINE
Connected to the upper level suite and overlooking the main event space through our original windows, the mezzanine is the perfect spot for first looks, photo booths, additional lounge space, or (most popular!) late night snack and dessert displays. This space also offers a dramatic entry down a small staircase into the main event space for ceremonies, speeches, grand entrances and more.
